Introduction

Here's a quick look at the first 5 mods I made to my new 2014 Can-Am Outlander 1000XT

Mod Number 1 - Sticker Delete

The first thing I did was remove all the stupid warning labels. I can't stand the things. Not only do they look terrible, but the whole idea of them and what they represent personally offends me. I'm all about personal freedom and personal responsibility - do we really want to live in a society where everything has to be labelled with a dozen warning stickers? I mean. I'm not saying we should kill stupid people - but how about we just do away with warning labels and let the problem take care of itself? I used a hair-dryer to soften them up and then carefully peeled them off.

All, that is, except for this one. This one I left on because it's kinda funny and classic at the same time. If you ride an Can-Am, you'll know what I mean.

Mod Number 2 - GPS Mount

I love to explore on my ATV and can ride for hours and a hundred km or so on a given day, so GPS for navigation and scouting trails is essential to me. I've been using my Garmin Oregon 450 in different vehicles for a couple of years now, so mounting it securely was a must. The RAM Mount mount fits perfectly (and only just) beside the throttle housing / 4WD switch.

Mod Number 3 - RAM Beverage Holder

Since I like to ride for long periods, staying hydrated and refreshed is a must. I've been using the RAM gimballed beverage holder in boats and vehicles for a while now and really like it, so I definitely had to mount one on the new ATV. Oh - ignore the mirror clamped to the hand guard - that mod isn't done / ready yet (I'm trying to figure out if I can retrofit the mirrors from an old pair of Powermadd hand guards to the factory Outlander XT hand guards).

Mod Number 4 - Pelican Storm Cases

Ya gotta have some storage space, especially for those longer adventures. I'm a big fan of the toughness, quality, and sleek low-profile look achieved by using Pelican cases for storage on ATVs. You can read all the details on this mod in this article.

Mod Number 5 - Rotopax Gas Cans

Long rides are more comfortable and easier on the mind when you have extra gas along. I like to use Rotopax gas cans as they are tough, easy to mount, stay secure, and never leak. You can read all the details on this mod in this article.
