Introduction

Being a small 2-seat roadster, it's no surprise that the 124 Spider's cockpit is short on storage space. Fortunately there are a number of very reasonably priced and surprisingly high quality options from the aftermarket that can be used to add a little handy extra storage space for keys, wallets, phones, sunglasses, garage door openers, etc.

Here we will take a look at 3 options that I recently purchased from Amazon:

Power Tiger Car Console Side Organizer / Seat Gap Filler

I've included it here just in case the link goes down, you can use some of the key words in the ad to search for like replacements.

Dimensions

There is a large plastic piece that is designed to slip between the side of the seat and the centre console.

The back of it is padded to prevent scratching the plastic of the console.

There is a little rubber mat inside the storage area.

It has some decorative metal rivets and red stitching. The red stitching turns out to be a really good match to the red stitching in my Abarth Spider.

Of the 3, this one takes up the most space but has the largest storage area.

It installes in the car between the seat and console. It can be placed in various positions, from quite forward as shown here to...

...quite far back, as shown here, depending on what you find most comfortable / handy.

Installed, driver's side, mid position.

With assorted junk in it.

Close-up.

When I sit in the car, with foot on the throttle, my right leg actually touches the organizer, but it isn't uncomfortable (at least not just sitting in the garage, I haven't driven for long periods with it installed yet).

Installed with driver in position.

Installed on passenger side.

One installed each side - adds quite a bit of storage space for things you need handy.

KM Motors Ultra Slim Side Pocket / Car Seat Side Organizer

Dimensions.

Finished in what I assume is faux black leather. This is the outside side.

It is very slim and has a hard plastic seperator under the little chrome clip that divides it into two separate compartments.

Inside side (that goes next to the console)

It comes with 3m double-sided sticky pads so it can be either stuck to the console or installed in other locations in the car.

Here it is installed in the car. I didn't stick it on, but just squeezed it between the seat bolster and console.

With wallet and phone.

With glasses and garage door remote.

With driver in car.

This one is much slimmer and very onubtrusive, but if you don't use any adhesive pads, isn't as secure in place.

Passenger side.

Tucks away nicely.

You could always use the adhesive pads to stick it in a diiferent location.

Don't know if it would stick here, given the curve of the door, but it might.

In front of the passenger.

You can always tuck it in another location too, without sticking it on.

Like between the seat and door sill.

Yosoo Universal Storage Net Bag / Phone Holder / Pocket Organizer

Dimensions.

Packaging.

This one comes with double-sided sticky tape pre-installed.

It fits very nicely on the outside of the glove-box cover.

It could also go on the door, either high...

...or lower down.

It would also fit quite nicely on the tunnel on the driver's side, if you could find a way to stick or attach it to the carpet.

Conclusion

I like all three of these options, and haven't quite decided yet which I will use permanently; although I expect the Power Tiger will get the nod for it's more secure mounting without having to stick anything. If it turns out to be uncomfortable during extended driving, I'll switch to the KM Motors unit. The little net will probably end up on the glovebox door (if I don't put a badge there), or on the tunnel in the driver's side if I can work out how to attach it securely without cutting the carpet.
