Introduction

A look "under the hood" of my 2014 Can-Am Outlander 1000XT. Video at the end of the article showing tips on removing and reinstalling 3 basic components of the Outlander - the front "gauge support" panel, the "console" panel, and the seat; and what's located beneath them.

Under the Front Gauge Support Panel

Can-Am call this front panel the "gauge support".

Underneath you gain access to the CVT filter, the front fuse box...

...vent tubes for the:

  1. Front differential.
  2. Rear final drive (Rear diff).
  3. High / Low range gearbox.
  4. Fuel tank.
Note that Can-Am calls the vent hoses: "Hose, Polyurethane Evaporative emission component."
... the engine air intake, the electric cooling fan vent...

...and the coolant reservoir.

The front fuse box contains 6 relays...

... and 11 fuses.

Under the Seat

Under the seat...

... there is storage for the operator's manual...

... and access to:

  1. The Diagnostic Link connector (dealer uses to hook up to the B.U.D.S. diagnostic software).
  2. Rear brake fluid reservoir.
  3. Starter solenoid.
  4. Battery.
  5. Rear fuse holder.
  6. Factory Can-Am tool kit.
  7. VIN and Model placard.

The rear fuse box contains 3 fuses.

Under the Console Panel

Can-Am call this panel the "console".

Underneath you gain access to the air filter.

Video demonstrating how to remove and re-install the components and a look at what's underneath.

NOTE: There is a mistake in the video where I incorrectly identify the vent hoses. The correct identification is as follows:

The cluster of 4 are:

  1. Front differential.
  2. Rear final drive (rear differential).
  3. High / Low range gearbox.
  4. Fuel tank.

And the single skinny one on the right side (which I erroneously called a fuel vent) is actually the electric cooling fan vent hose.
